Learn to design pauses in your daily life.
Hold that silence after finishing a conversation, instead of searching for your phone.
Hold that feeling after watching an episode, instead of letting Netflix autoplay the next.
Hold that emotion after a song, instead of skipping to the next track.
Hold.
Breathe.
The world around us is designed to not let us pause. Not just in the big things but also in the small ones.
It’s always the next thing after this thing and then the one after that. A constant loop, an endless marathon, an Ekta Kapoor production.
In this rigmarole, we look at pauses as emptiness, blank canvases that must be filled.
But a pause is not a void, it is a space.
Even more, it is an acknowledgement of your time, it is giving respect to ourselves and the people around us.
Without it, we look like we don’t know what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.
A hamster on a wheel doesn’t look like it is running with intention. But it definitely looks as if it does not know how to stop.
If it paused in between, you would think, ‘oh, what an intentional Hamster!’
ok, I’m kidding, nobody will think that.
But, the pause will make it seem that it knows what it’s doing.
And isn’t it important that we live our lives intentionally. I dare say, the only life worth living is the one that is intentional.
And pauses create intentionality.
Pauses are to daily life, what holidays are to your yearly calendar.
A small reclamation of your time,
an acknowledgement of your work,
a quiet bow after a scene.
Thank you for sharing such a necessary reminder with such ease! Loved the occasional subtle banter haha xD
